Hermit

Hermit is an experimental interactive shell, provides people a private space to hide or take a nap.

The kinetic shell is designed for using in the sharing space with table and chair. The shell will be placed on the table along the edge. When user sits on the chair, overlaps his/her arms and bends over the table, the hemispheroidal Hermit will close and cover the user. Remote controls are hidden inside the accessories which are cuffs and glove. Though a simple gesture, user can control the shell to open and close. And also LEDs installs on both sides of the shell as the indicator light/signal lamp to present the situation of the user. The Green light means that is fine to interrupt, but the Red light is similar to a caution light telling ‘do not interrupt’. User can select these situations by using the glove. (Jun 2009)

Measure: How much I miss you! (Zipper Communicators)

The project Measure: How much I miss you! provides an aesthetic communicative experience for people. It is about creating an interactive accessory for people who wants to keep in touch with family members, partners and friends over a distance. Through a simple gesture, people can directly express their missing to a specific person. And the person will see and feel the missing from him/her. The design tries to provide a solution to the rising problem “Awareness in the real world”, and helps to enhance people’s emotional awareness in the real life. (Mar – Jun 2009)

Shade-Requiring Plant Pot

Shade-Requiring Plant Pot is an electronic garden pot for indoor plants. Most of the indoor plants prefer a humid atmosphere and indirect light, therefore the SRPP can help the indoor plants to conform an outdoor life. Sensors are set in the pot to sense the temperature and sunlight. Processing interface will visualize these data. And a RBG LED will change color following the temperature changed to inform user. The pot includes two layers: external layer is stable; the internal one is rotated by the motor. User can use keyboard to control the internal layer to close the gap between two layers. (May 2009)
